Richard Curtis

Richard Carl Curtis Richard Carl Curtis, age 96, of Lake Village, Indiana died on August 31, 2019 in Avalon Springs Retirement Home, Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born on January 8, 1923 in Alabaster, Michigan to Grant and Evelyn Curtis. Richard served in Naval Aviation during World War II. He married Lois Siegrist on November 20, 1947 with whom he had two children, Susan and Frederick. The couple lived in Dyer, Indiana until he retired from Ford Motor Company, soon after moving to Lake Village, Indiana where they opened the Curtis Christmas Tree Farm. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, a brother James of Lansing, Illinois, who was killed in action during WW II, and a sister, Onilee Pilzer of South Carolina. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Oestreich of La Porte, Indiana, her husband Karl, a son, Frederick Curtis of Jacksonville, Texas, his wife Debbie; four grandchildren, Kate Sosa of Austin, Texas, her husband Jared, Kim Curtis of Denver, Colorado, Marc Oestreich of La Porte, Indiana, his wife Steffany, Krissy Curtis of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Granger and Waverly Oestreich and Flynn and Fox Sosa. Richard, who went by Dick Curtis, loved the outdoors, working on his tree farm, his great neighbors and good fishing. We will miss him. A private service will take place at a later date.
