Rhonda Jean James, 43 of LaPorte, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital. Rhonda was born October 22, 1960 to Robert L. James of LaPorte, Indiana and Laureen K. James of LaPorte, who survive. Also, surviving are two sisters, Shelley K. Ewert of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lori L. James of LaPorte, Indiana, her brother Michael R. Pam James of LaPorte, Indiana; nieces Elizabeth Ewert of Indianapolis, Indiana & Jasmine James of LaPorte, Indiana; nephews, Stephen & Corey James of LaPorte, Indiana. Also, special in her life was Ben Miller of LaPorte, Indiana and Lyndsey Miller of New Carlisle, Indiana, Jim & Connie Edwards of LaPorte, Indiana and while in the hospital, she met and became friends with Pastor Ron Devenport of Mill Creek, Indiana, he visited often and they shared a special time together. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Merl & Gladys James and Murray & Margaret Peery; niece, Ashleigh James; cousin, Shari L. Peery and Aunt Shirley Buehrer. Rhonda graduated from LaPorte High School in 1979. After graduation, she attended Patricia Stevens Business College in Milwaukee, WI, for two years. Due to her illness, Rhonda moved to Fountainview Health and Rehabilitation Center in December of 2003. While there she made many friends, enjoyed the activities, especially the bingo games. Rhonda enjoyed the gospel singers from Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member. They always made a special effort to sing to her, when they were at the hospital. She was a past member of First Christian Church, which she attended with her much loved Grandma Gladys James. Visitation will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Saturday September 4, 2004 from 9:00-11:00 AM, with a service at 11:00 AM Saturday September 4, 2004 at the Haverstock Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Curtis Southwood and Rev. Ron Devenport. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions can be made to the Indiana Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. 314 W.
