Raymond L. Pitmon May 3, 1937-October 13, 2015 Mr. Raymond L. Pitmon, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday October 13, 2015 at his home in La Porte, IN. He was born May 3, 1937 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Leonard Pitmon and Millie (Cooke) Pitmon. Ray was a graduate of LaPorte High School and inducted into the LaPorte Football Hall of Fame. He served in the US Army, then returned to LaPorte where he joined the LaPorte Police department, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. Ray also had a long and successful business in the LaPorte area doing painting and wallpapering. After retirement Ray fulfilled his lifelong dream of designing and building a beautiful log home near Garwood's Orchard. He was a dedicated member of the LaPorte Church of Christ. He loved camping (tent style), traveling, antiquing, and rooting for the Chicago Bulls. On January 7, 1995, he married Linda (Skomp) Pitmon who survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Rhonda R. Ramos of TX, Jeri L. (Troy) Hanath of TX, and Robin L. (Rudy) Vasquez; son, Loren T. (Beth) Pitmon of AL; many grandchildren, many great- grandchildren; four step-sons, David (Lisa) Paul of KY, Chris (Susan) Paul of Indianapolis, IN, Rob Paul of La Porte, IN, and Michael (Tammy) Paul of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Nancy (George) Gleisner of OK; two brothers, William "Duke" (Betty) Pitmon of Oregon, and Wayne (Mary) Davisson of Chicago, IL Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dick Davisson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN A life celebration will be held at Church of Christ 1616 "I" Street LaPorte, IN. 46350, Saturday October 24, 2015 at 11:00 am. Ray wished to donate his body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine.
