Oscar Mack Jr.

A memorial service for Mr. Oscar B. Mack Jr., 77, of 102 Kingsbury Ave., LaPorte, will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Timothy Sassaman officiating. Mr. Mack died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at 2 p.m. at LaPorte Hospital. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. He was born May 16, 1926, in Chicago to Oscar B. Sr. and Alice Anketel Mack, and had in the LaPorte area since 1947, coming from Chicago. Mr. Mack retired 1986 as a dock foreman from LaPorte Transit after 16 years. He was a member of Teamsters Union 135-298. On Jan. 27 1945, in LaPorte, he married Margaret M. Palen, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Macharaschwili and Gretchen Chuck Smith, both of LaPorte; one son, Oscar B. lll of Union Mills; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
