Norval L. Hooper, Jr. December 22, 1940-May 7, 2015 Mr. Norval L. Hooper, Jr., 74, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday May 7, 2015 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born December 22, 1940 in Fairfield, Illinois, the son of Norval Hooper Sr. and Jenny Lillian (Brock) Hooper. Norval was a heavy equipment operator for the International Order of Operating Engineers Local 150 and worked for Reith and Riley for many years. Norval was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9423 of Rolling Prairie and was a member of D.A.V. since 1979. He loved to do yard work and spending time outdoors. Norval especially loved his children and grandchildren. On December 6, 1975, in Three Oaks, MI, he married Esther (Carder) Hooper who preceded him in death. He is survived by his six sons, Larry Hooper, Jr., Ralph Hooper, Jason Schimmel, Murry Winslett, all of LaPorte, Jeff Winslett of Galien, MI, Scott Hooper of Seattle, WA; three daughters, Angie Stewart of Galien, MI, Sherri Winslett of La Porte, IN, and Jill Skaggs of AL; seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers, Johnny Hooper of La Porte, IN, Billy Hooper of Warsaw, IN, Ivan Hooper of Three Oaks, MI; three sisters, Lola Brown of Fairfield, IL, Zola Shott of La Porte, IN, and Gladdis Harkriden of Buchanan, MI. Norval was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Douglas Hooper, two brothers, Jimmy Hooper and Delbert Hooper, two sisters, Wilma Kincholw, and Wanda Williams. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, May 11, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, May 12, 2015, from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday May 12, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Bradford Payne, officiating. Interment will follow at the Posey Chapel Cemetery, where V.F.W. Post 9423 will conduct military honors.
