Norma Straub

Mrs. Norma Straub, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday March 24, 2009 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born September 24, 1921 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Benjamin Overmeyer and Blanch Sanders Overmeyer, living in the LaPorte, IN. area, all of her life. Norma worked in the packaging department for American Home Foods for twenty-two years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Christian Church of LaPorte. On June 19, 1940, in LaPorte, IN., she married Milton Straub, who preceded her death on August 11, 2001. She is survived by her two sons, Joseph M. Patricia Straub of Chesterton, IN, Neil D. Danielle Straub of LaPorte, IN.; one daughter, Elaine F. Michael Ashcraft of LaPorte, IN.; Eight Grandchildren; Eleven Great-grandchildren and Two great-great grandchildren. Norma came from a large family of twelve brothers and sisters. Norma was preceded in death by her mother, Blanch Overmeyer, father, Benjamin Overmeyer. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2009 and from 12:00 pm, Friday, March 27, 2009, until time of service. Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Haverstock Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Pilger, officiating. Interment will follow in the Posey Chapel Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, IN.
