Nettie Jackson

Nettie Jackson July 21, 1940-July 14, 2016 Nettie M. Jackson of LaPorte, Indiana peacefully went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2016 at the age of 75. She was born to Odessie and Willie Cooper Jr. in Houston MS. She worked for American Home Foods and Aero Metals where she retired. Nettie was a compassionate caring woman who was loved by many. She was no stranger to anyone. Her grandchildren often refer to her as the strongest woman they know, Nettie loved to crochet, fish, cook and garden. She was also a die hard Bulls fan. She loved her D. Rose. She loved the lord and instilled the love of God into her children at Greater Harvest Full Gospel Church where she was a founding member. She was President of the labor union at American Home Foods, president of the PTA at Washington Elementary School, and an active participant in the civil rights movement. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Frank (Beth) Browder Jr., James (Rebecca) Browder, Cheryl (Timothy) Daniels, Regina (Johnny) Fleming, Denise (Kenneth) Woodson, Mark (Linda) Browder; 16 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; brother Joe L. (Lula) Cooper Sr.; sisters, Margaret (Jerry) Hunt and Earnestine (Dave) Goldstien; special aunt Louise Bailey; special uncle Robert Buchanan; special aunt Ruth Moore and special cousin Arnold (Shirley) Lewis and a host nieces nephews and other family and friends. Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; a son Yancy D. Browder; brother John Buchanan Sr. and a sister Sharon Buchanan Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where a wake service will be conducted Friday, July 22, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday July 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Edward Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
