Nancy R. Collin, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Northwest Health-Porter in Valparaiso, IN.

She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Jack Erdman and Helen (Gregg) Erdman.

Nancy married the love of her life, David Collin Sr. on December 30, 1967 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked in administration at the Ruth Sabin Home for over 30 years and was beloved by the residents. Nancy loved the natural world, enjoying gardening, birds, blackberry picking, and hunting for rocks on the beach. She cherished the lifetime of walks with her sisters in the woods and fields of her family's beautiful land in Monrovia and exploring the lighthouses of Lake Michigan with her husband, David. She read voraciously, crocheted non-stop, and always cooked for a crowd. Her happy place was watching a good mystery on PBS Masterpiece with a glass of iced tea in-hand and a ball of yarn on her hook. Nancy's greatest passion, though, was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, David (Kristine) Collin Jr. of La Porte, IN; three daughters, Bridget Collin of Lafayette, IN, Margaret (Matthew) Reeder of Muncie, IN, Laura (David) Riffel of La Porte, IN; two sisters, Regina (Don) Bodin of Monrovia, IN, Sydney (Gene) Palmer of Monrovia, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Ireland, Abigail, Graham, Vada, Ethan, Charlotte, Konnor, Grayson, Mathew, Angela, Elizabeth, Chase and Viktoria; several great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David, who passed away on October 26, 2018 and brother, Gregg Erdman.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends for an informal gathering, Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a blessing given at 3:30.
