Muriel Thistle

Mrs. Muriel J. Thistle, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday September 19, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. She was born December 11, 1923 in Malden, Massachusetts, living in the LaPorte area for thirty-four years, coming from Hammond, IN. She was the daughter of Joseph Hudson and Nellie Bates Hudson. Muriel was a homemaker, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of La Porte, IN. She volunteered at the Methodist Hospital for twenty-three years, enjoyed cooking and sewing. Muriel worked with her husband, volunteering for the Shriner's Hospital. On May 25, 1946, in Everett, Mass., she married Richard Thistle who survives. She is also survived by her two daughters, Sharon Bryce Bate of Columbus, OH, Joy Floyd Perry-Thistle of CA; son Paul Debbie Thistle of Indianapolis, IN. and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Wednesday September 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Evan Lash, officiating. Cremation has taken place.
