Karla "Chic" J. Spencer November 27, 1962 - May 27, 2012 Ms. Karla J. Spencer , 49, of La Porte, Indiana, died Sunday May 27, 2012 at her home. She was born November 27, 1962 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Edward Borkowski, Sr. and Gail (Skinner) Borkowski. Karla had worked as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for the IU Health La Porte Hospital. She is survived by her 2 sons - Justin Hatchel of Fremont, IN, Travis "Trap" Hatchel of La Porte, IN; 4 brothers - Edward (Linda) Borkowski, Jr. of La Porte, IN, David (Denise) Borkowski of La Porte, IN, Keven (Crystal) Borkowski of La Porte, IN, Derek (Casie) Borkowski of New Carlisle, IN; sister - Karen (Gary) Spencer of Hudson Lake, IN. Karla was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday June 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Helen Nusbaum, officiating.
