Mr. Vernon Smith

Mr. Vernon Lee Smith, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday July 12, 2012 at his home. He was born January 25, 1936 in Putnam Co., Tennessee, the son of Buster Smith and Nellie (Hix) Smith. Vernon was a retired Custodian for LaPorte Community Schools. On May 11, 1974, in La Porte, IN, he married Loraine A. Kochs Smith who preceded in death January 30, 2005. He is survived by his sister - Betty Tanner of Cookeville, TN; several nieces and nephews and one aunt. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. A life celebration will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, Tuesday July 17, 2012 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow.
