Yvonne J. Tompkins July 25, 1938 - July 5, 2012 Mrs. Yvonne J. Tompkins, 73, of Mill Creek, Indiana, died Thursday July 5, 2012 at Indiana University Medical Center - Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born July 25, 1938 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of George Leslie Kelley and Garnett (Hughes) Kelley. Yvonne retired from American Home Foods after 19 years of service. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, the Lions Club in Mill Creek, and Lincoln Township Farm Bureau. On July 23, 1955, in Mill Creek, IN, she married Ernie Tompkins who survives. She is also survived by her daughter - Cindy (Charles) Bair of La Porte, IN; granddaughter - April (Matthew) Chadwick of Ft. Belvoir, VA; grandson - Charles (Jamie) Bair of La Porte, IN; great-granddaughter - Mackenzie Bair; and 3 great-grandsons - Aiden Chadwick, Cody Bair, Conor Bair. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, July 09, 2012 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, July 10, 2012 9:30 am until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. The Mill Creek Community Lions Club will hold a service at Haverstock Funeral Home Monday evening at 7:00pm.
