Mrs. Wanda Smith

Wanda Smith December 21, 1928-January 2, 2012 Wanda Smith, 83, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at her home. She was born December 21, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky, the daughter of Harold Mick and Iona (Buttrey) Mick. Wanda worked as a machine operator, retiring from Bonnie Bakery. She was a member of First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie, First Christian Church Women's Fellowship,and the Rolling Prairie Community Center. Wanda enjoyed reading and loved to cook and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1947 in Chicago, IL. she married Joseph Yagoda, who preceded her in death on October 19, 1992. On August 25, 1978, in Rolling Prairie, IN, she married Dan Smith who survives. She is also survived by her 6 sons - Joseph Yagoda of Michigan City, IN, John (Lea) Yagoda of La Porte, IN, Thomas Yagoda of Rolling Prairie, IN, Phillip (Pam) Smith of Walkerton, IN, Roger (Beth) Smith of Muskegon, MI, Kevin (Tammy) Smith of Rolling Prairie, IN; 2 daughters - Patricia (Richard) Vermilyer of Westville, IN, Eleanor (Jim) Glenn of Fish Lake, IN; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother - Lawrence (Norma) Mick of Elko, NV; 2 sisters - Donna (Dave) Chelbowski of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Elizabeth Town of La Porte, IN. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Joseph Yagoda, daughter, Carol Lloyd, great-grandchild, Christopher D. Allen Veach, and one brother, James Mick. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, January 6, 2012 from 9:30 am, until time of service. A Life Celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday January 6, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. John Marron officiating. Interment will follow at the Door Village Cemetery.
