Mrs. Velma Crosslin

Velma F. Crosslin April 12, 1929-December 26, 2013 Velma F. Crosslin, 84, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Thursday December 26, 2013 at her daughter's home in North Judson, IN. She was born April 12, 1929 in Haleyville, Alabama, the daughter of Vester M. Heatherly and Bessie M. (Kemp) Heatherly. Velma worked as a worked at La Porte Plastics for 9 years and Foamex for 14 years. She was a member of Assembly of God in La Porte. She loved to do her gardening, crafts, crocheting, and canning. On April 7, 1947, in Alabama, she married William P. Crosslin who preceded in death February 14, 1988. She is survived by her 3 Sons - Jerry (Mary) Crosslin of La Porte, IN, Ronald Crosslin of La Porte, IN, William (Rhonda) Crosslin of La Porte, IN; daughter - Lorie (Garald) Fields of North Judson, IN; 4 Brothers - James Heatherly of AL, Jimmy Heatherly of AL, Thomas Heatherly of IL, William Heatherly of AL; 2 Sisters - Mary Francis McGee of IL, Wilma McGee of AL; daughter-in-law - Jenny Crosslin; and lifetime friend and companion - William "Bill" Malone of Rolling Prairie, IN. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Rodney Crosslin Sr., daughter, Brenda Crosslin, grandson, Neil Fields, 3 brothers, J.B. Heatherly, Morris Heatherly, and Troy Heatherly. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, December 30, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 9:30 am until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 10:30 am with Rev. Roger Coleman Jr. officiating.
