Mrs. Norma Zimmerman

Mrs. Norma D. Zimmerman, 79, of La Porte, IN, died Sunday May 1, 2011 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte. She was born April 29, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Emmit Smith and Sadie (Harris) Smith. She has lived in La Porte and Arizona most all of her life. Norma was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and great aunt. On January 20, 1951, in La Porte, IN, she married Paul Zimmerman who preceded in death April 9, 2003. She is survived by her 2 sons - Jim (Donna) Zimmerman of Cedar Park, TX, Joe (Jennifer) Zimmerman of Avondale, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister - Patricia Porter of La Porte; and a brother - Bob Smith of Fairdealing, MO. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 infant sons, Michael, and Steven. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 12:00 noon until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday May 5, 2011 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ronald A. Brauer officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
