Mrs. Mary Vantine

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Vantine, 88, of North Liberty, Indiana, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at her home in North Liberty. She was born October 10, 1923 in Antwerp, Belguim the daughter of Francis Doms and Bertha (Antonio) Doms. Mary owned the Chanel Cafe in Fish Lake for many years. She was a member of the North Liberty American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. Mary enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening and canning. In 1967, in Wisconsin she married Max W. Vantine who preceded her in death April 4, 1999. She is survived by her step-daughter - Carolyn (Ray) Callentine of CO; Sister - Alice Goethals of La Porte, IN; 2 Brothers - Joe Doms of Mill Creek, IN, Victor Doms of New Carlisle, IN; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by parents and 1 brother. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. CST & Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 10:00 am CST until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday December 22, 2011 at 11:00 am CST with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice.
