Mrs. Marjorie Kroening

Marjorie Kroening July 14, 1934-December 28, 2011 Marjorie Kroening , 77, of Michigan City, Indiana, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born July 14, 1934 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph Swanson and Dorothy (Davis) Swanson. Marjorie was a member of Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. On June 13, 1953, in Springfield Twp. La Porte Co., IN, she married James B. Hooper, who preceded her in death in 1963. On June 20, 1964, in Michigan City, IN, she married Alfred Kroening who survives. She is also survived by her 2 daughters - Debra Richie of Michigan City, IN, Rita Hooper of Michigan City, IN; son - Joseph L. (Brenda A.) Hooper of La Porte, IN; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; sister - Sharon (Bill) McDonald of Rolling Prairie, IN; 2 brothers - James and Joseph Swanson both of La Porte, IN. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, James B. Hooper, one sister, Kathryn Schumaker, and one brother, Gerald Swanson. Together they create a chain of love linking the past and with the future. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church. A Life Celebration will be held at Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jay Loucks officiating. Burial of Ashes will follow at the Lambs Chapel Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Marjorie Kroening.
