Mrs. Marion Metcalf

Mrs. Marion Mae Metcalf, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born March 18, 1925 in Prairie Creek, Indiana, the daughter of Elijah Weir and Vera (Dickenson) Weir. Marion was a 1946 graduate of LaPorte High School. She worked as a upholster at Kingsley Furniture for thirty years. Marion was a Union Stewart for UAW Teamsters, and member of Woodman of the World. Marion always attended and loved the Arts in the Park concerts.. On March 21, 1947, she married Charles E. Metcalf who preceded her in death October 22, 1986. On November 22, 1991, she married Kenneth Metcalf, who preceded her on July 23, 1993. She is survived by her three sons - Larry (Min) Metcalf of Watauga, TX, Danny (Patricia) Metcalf of Battle Ground, IN, Gary (Connie) Metcalf of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister - Donna Burns of Big Springs, TX. and one brother - Allen Wilson of Richmond, CA. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles E. Metcalf, husband, Kenneth Metcalf and three brothers, Paul Weir, James Weir, and Ray Wilson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday October 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
