Mrs. Marcella Bird

Marcella J. Bird February 3, 1932-February 20, 2013 Mrs. Marcella J. Bird, 81, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday February 20, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte. She was born February 3, 1932 in Westville, Indiana, the daughter of Guy Hershman and Edith (Egof) Hershman. Marcella had worked for Holiday Inn and was a paper carrier for the Herald Argus, since 1983. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. On May 28, 1954, in Westville, IN, she married Phillip F.Bird who preceded her in death October 13, 1976. She is survived by her 3 sons - Joseph (Melisse) Bird of New Carlisle, IN, DeWayne Bird of La Porte, IN, Terry (Stacey) Bird of Elkhart, IN; 11 Grandchildren - Daniel Bird, Alyssa Bird, Alicia Lantz, Kathryn Lantz, Courtney Bird, Phillip (Kelsey) Bird, Stephen (Christy) Bird, Justin Bird, Desiree Bird, Caitlin Bird, Chelsae Bird, and four great grandchildren and one brother, Vernon (Helen) Hershman. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Monday, February 25, 2013 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday February 25, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Cremation will take place. Burial of Ashes will take place on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Westville Cemetery, Westville, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice.
