Mrs. Lucille Sharp

Mrs. Lucille S. Sharp, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday June 16, 2012 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born February 14, 1920 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse Singleton and Neva (Harness) Singleton and has been a life long resident of La Porte. Lucille is a retired school teacher for the LaPorte Community School Corp. She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, South Bend and her graduate degree from Purdue North Central. She was a very active member of the First Christian Church of LaPorte, La Porte Hospital Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels. On July 22, 1939, in Crawfordsville, IN, she married James Sharp who preceded her in death on October 6, 1981. She is survived by her daughter - Judith Kares of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sons - Dr. Stewart (Clarice) Sharp of Amarillo, TX, Stephen (Linda) Sharp of Glencoe, IL; 7 Grandchildren - Jennifer Kares (Larry) Klein of Sherman Oaks, CA, Julie Kares (Ben Foster) of Portland, OR, Joshua (Stephanie) Kares of Evansville, IN, Kathryn Sharp of Saint Albans, WV, Dr. Victoria Sharp of Farmington Hills, MI, Jamey Sharp of Glencoe, IL, Amber Ray of Ankeny, IA; 3 Great Grandchildren - Jakob Klein of Sherman Oaks, CA, Gracie Klein of Sherman Oaks, CA and Morgan Ray of Ankeny, IA. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, June 22, 2012, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, June 23, 2012, from 9:30 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday June 23, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Everett Shattuck officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. From 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday family and friends are invited to Lucille's home at 149 Sagamore Parkway for a continued time of fellowship.
