Mrs. Lois Kegebein

Lois L. Kegebein, 82, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born January 1, 1930 in New Carlisle, Indiana, the daughter of Melvin E. Nelson and Lolita (Wolff) Nelson. She has lived in the La Porte area, since 1941 coming from North Liberty, Indiana. Lois was a secretary at Kingsford Heights School for 22 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tracy, and the American Legion Auxilliary Post #434 of Kingsford Heights. On October 9, 1948, in La Porte Co, IN, she married John E. Kegebein who preceded her in death March 30, 1987. She is survived by her daughter - Becky (David) Ott of La Porte, IN; 2 sons - John (Margery), and Bruce (Patricia) Kegebein both of Hamlet, IN; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Doris Purkal of La Porte, IN, Joan Morrison of Union Mills, IN, and 1 brother - Jay Nelson of Hamlet, IN. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister, Florence Sisler, 2 brothers, Russell and M. Eugene Nelson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. There will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held at Tracy Cemetery, Saturday July 21, 2012 at 10:00 am with Rev. David Albertin officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana.
