Lela I. Klaus May 15, 1920-December 22, 2012 Lela I. Klaus, of New Carlisle, Indiana, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born May 15, 1920 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Curtis Cunningham and Edna (Norris) Cunningham. Lela had lived in the New Carlisle area since 1998, coming from Pittsburgh, PA. She enjoyed visiting the casino boat, and was an expert slot machine player. On December 24, 1953, in Pittsburgh, PA, she married Glenn Klaus who preceded her in death on January of 1990. She is survived by her sister - Evelyn Murphy of New Carlisle, IN; 2 nephews - Howard E. Murphy of Mill Creek, IN, Donald Cunningham; 3 nieces - Marjorie Guy, Gayla Birns, and Cindy Newell. Lela was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, and one niece. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 11:00 am until the time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday January 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Baird officiating.
