Joan Rita Koeppen September 15, 1924 - October 2, 2012 Mrs. Joan Rita Koeppen, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday October 2, 2012 at Settlers House in La Porte, IN. She was born September 15, 1924 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Raymond Povlock and Josephine (Peterson) Povlock. Joan worked thirteen years for Schafer's Laundry & Dry Cleaning. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tracy, Ladies Aide and Bible Study of the church. On July 15, 1967, in La Porte, Indiana, she married Raymond Koeppen who preceded her in death on July 10, 2005. She is survived by her daughter - Lynn Wisniewski of Gibson, GA; son - John Koch of Gibson, GA; 3 step-sons - Chuck Koeppen of Carmel, IN, Brad Koeppen of Valparaiso, IN, Richard Koeppen of Valparaiso, IN; 3 step-daughters - Sharon Sherman of Westville, IN, Janet Roempagel of South Bend, IN, Donna Smoker of Valparaiso, IN; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; 2 brothers - Don Povlock of Houston, TX, Dave Povlock of La Porte, IN; 2 sisters - Marie Gaddy of Kingsford Heights, IN, and Barbara Smith of La Porte, IN. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Anita Shimanek, and brother, Jack Povlock. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, October 5, 2012 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday October 5, 2012 at 10:00 am with David Albertin officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana.
