Jessie E. Lawrence July 24, 1920-April 10, 2013 Mrs. Jessie E. Lawrence, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born July 24, 1920 in Stark Co., Indiana, the daughter of William Palmer and Mary (Palen) Palmer. Jessie was a member of LaPorte Assembly of God. "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" was Jessie's philosophy. As a young women, Jessie enjoyed singing duets at church. In her later years, she enjoyed watching television ministries because she couldn't leave the her home. Jessie also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and was a avid Cubs fan. On November 18, 1939, in LaPorte, IN, she married Marshall Lawrence who preceded her in death February 3, 1992. She is survived by her daughter - Carol Burklow of Reynoldsburg, OH; 2 step-sons - John Lawrence of Taylorville, IL, and Gene Lawrence of Newport Beach, CA; two grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and eight step- grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one step son, one step daughter, three sisters, and three brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN There will be no services or visitation. A cremation will take place.
