Mrs. Jean Skinner

Mrs. Jean E. Skinner, 71, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born May 3, 1941 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Orlie L. Larson and Minnie (Wondergem) Larson. Jean worked as an Operations Specialist for LaPorte Hospital. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels, and the Retired Hospital Employee Group. She also belonged to the Senior Lunch Group and Quilters Group with Bethany Lutheran Church, Christian Woman's Group, I.U. Health Port Seniors, and the Sunday lunch Bunch. On October 22, 1966, in LaPorte, IN, she married George Skinner who preceded in death December 16, 2004. She is survived by her 2 brothers - David (Susie) Larson of La Porte, IN, Ervin (Karen) Larson of Buchanan, MI; several neices and nephews; and her beloved cat "Oreo". Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother - Joel Larson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 9:00 am until the time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church 102 "G" Street LaPorte, IN 46350.
