Mrs. Janice Tennis

Mrs. Janice Ann Tennis, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born January 3, 1936 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Paul Halter and Dietta (Shank) Halter. Janice was a graduate of La Porte High School. She was a member of the Duneland Woodcarvers Club, and past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to play bridge and do ceramics. Janice was an avid golfer for over 20 years. On July 3, 1954, in La Porte, IN, she married Norman Tennis who survives. She is also survived by her 2 sons - Brian (Donna) Tennis of Blue Island, IL, Brad (Bobi) Tennis of La Porte, IN, and one daughter, Vickie Tennis of Crown Point, IN.; 5 grandchildren - Rebecca Wright, Jonathon Tennis, Joshua Tennis, Anna Tennis, Adam Tennis; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law - Betty Pugh of La Porte, IN, and one niece - Mindy Gaunt of La Porte, IN. Janice was preceded in death by her parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 9:30 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday September 11, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Jeff Zigler officiating.
