Mrs. Ionia Rice

Ionia O. Rice , 96, of Valparaiso, Indiana, died Sunday April 22, 2012 at Life Care Center of The Willows in Valparaiso, IN. She was born June 5, 1915 in LaPorte Co, Indiana, the daughter of Lloyd Burden and Laura (Krohn) Burden and was a life long resident of the LaPorte area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rosary Society of the church and the Knight of Columbus Wives. On August 3, 1944, in LaPorte, IN, she married Harold Rice who preceded her in death July 17, 1992. She is survived by her son - David Rice of La Porte, IN; 2 daughters - Kathleen (Ron) Tulacz of La Porte, IN, Arleen Rice of La Porte, IN; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Ionia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN There will be no visitation. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Patton Cemetery, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 with Deacon Robert Bucheit officiating.
