Helen I. Harris, 99, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte. She was born July 14, 1912 in Minott, South Dakota, the daughter of Omer Heath and Alice (Catlin) Heath. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. On July 29, 1927, in LaPorte, IN, she married Cecil C. Harris who preceded her in death April 8, 1993. She is survived by her son - Robert Harris of La Porte, IN;.five grandchildren, Teresa (Bob) Davey, Scott (Lisa) Harris, Leea (Tom) Galloway, Jamie (Bob) Garrett and Crystal Taylor; ten great grandchildren, Neil Davey, Alan Davey, Sunny Taylor, Ryan Garrett, Jamie Taylor, Kari Garrett, Bobby Garrett, Jordan Smoote, Payton Stevens, and Zoya Harris, and four great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, William Harris, grandson, Ricky Harris; six sisters, two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.. A Private Graveside Service will be at the Pine Lake Cemetery, at a later date, with Pastor Roger Ash, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association 30 North Michigan Avenue Suite 2015 Chicago, IL 60602, or Alzheimers Association 50 E. 91st St. STE 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
