Mrs. Geloras Snyder

Geloras Jean Snyder December 3, 1931 - December 17, 2012 Geloras J. Snyder, 81, of Kokomo, Indiana, formally of La Porte, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born December 3, 1931 in Puddletown, Indiana, the daughter of Winifred "Fred" Bennitt and Nellie (Reed) Bennitt. Over the years, she worked at Hilbish Drug Store, Plimpton Press, Kline Excavating, and lastly, as manager at Commons Apartments. She was a wonderful cook and everyone loved her deserts and pies. Geloras was also known for her roses in the neighborhood and was even called the "Rose Lady." On June 19, 1948, in La Porte, IN, she married Richard Snyder who preceded in death May 6, 1996. She is survived by her 3 sons - William Snyder of Union County, IN, John (Deb) Snyder of Kokomo, IN, Charles (Vicky) Snyder of Liberty, IN; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Geloras was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Walter Bennitt, Arnold Bennitt, Robert Bennitt, Foster Bennitt, James "Jake" Bennitt, Winifred "Dale" Bennitt, Harold Bennitt, and her sisters, Irene Brown, and Eunice Schoff. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday December 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Martin officiating.
