Mrs. Esther Darling

Mrs. Esther B. Darling , 92, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Thursday September 1, 2011 at Golden Living Center-Fountainview, LaPorte. She was born July 1, 1919 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Henry Carlson and Dora (Benway) Carlson. Esther worked twelve years as a Lab Tech for American Home Foods, retiring in 1961. Esther enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing and crocheting. On June 11, 1936, in LaPorte, IN, she married Melvin E. Darling who preceded in death March 13, 1986. She is survived by her daughter - Nancy (David) Slater of La Porte, IN; 2 grandchildren - Sherry Henry of La Porte, IN, and Kandi Tague of La Porte, IN; five great- grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Donald Darling, three sisters, and two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at the Posey Chapel Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.
