Mrs. Elaine Mounce

Elaine Ellen Mounce, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday, March 23, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. She was born July 7, 1923 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Michael J. Soda and Irene (Watkins) Soda. Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for John G. Blank Center for four years. She had also worked at Howmet and then at Whirlpool making airplane wings. She managed several businesses during her working career, retiring in 1984. She was a member of V.F.W. Auxilliary of LaPorte, Indiana. She is survived by her 2 sons - Lloyd (Shirley) Mounce of La Porte, IN, Allen S. Mounce of La Porte, IN; 2 daughters - Gail I. Holmes of La Porte, IN, Penny L. Cottingham of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother - James M. Soda of FL, and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Cremation will take place.
