Mrs. Edith Sulzer

Mrs. Edith R Snipes Sulzer, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at LaPorte Hospital. She was born June 14, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Cuono Riemma and Alfonsina (Mangiarulo) Riemma. Edith was a waitress for twenty-five years at Walgreen's, retiring in 1982. She was a very active member of Oakwood Manor and will be missed by all. She was married on July 29, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to Benjamin Snipes, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1978. She remarried on February 15, 1983, in Arkansas to Raymond Sulzer who preceded her in death on December 28, 2003. She is survived by her two daughters - Jackie Wheatley of La Verne, CA, Judy Machota of La Porte, IN; son - Stanley (Linda) Snipes of Kankakee, IL; eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one sister, Gloria Falardeau, three brothers, John, Charles and Mike Riemma. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, September 16, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm & Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 9:00 am - 10:15 am. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 C St., LaPorte, IN. Saturday September 17, 2011 at 10:30 am with Rev. David Kime officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at the Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice.
