Mrs. Doris Sawyer

Doris V. Sawyer May 26, 1920-January 1, 2013 Doris V. Sawyer, 92, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born May 26, 1920 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of William E. Orsborn and Hattie E. (Harness) Orsborn. Doris worked as a clerk for J.C. Penney and also worked at Woolen Mill in LaPorte and at the Plastic Service in LaPorte. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose #492, Senior's Bowling League; she was a league bowler for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. On July 3, 1936, in LaPorte, IN, she married John A. Sawyer who preceded her in death April 14, 2003. She is survived by her 3 daughters - Janet (Rudy) Conjalka of La Porte, IN, Joyce (Ted) Szawara of Laporte, IN, Joan K. (Dave) Luther of LaPorte, IN; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; six great -great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Mary Rauschenbach, Aileen Pointon, June Janish, and Iris Martinsen two brothers, Raymond Orsborn, Osa Orsborn, and one grandaughter, Pamela Conjalka. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place.
