Mrs. Doris Blaze

Mrs. Doris Nelda Blaze, 86, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Thursday February 28, 2013 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, IN. She was born April 28, 1926 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Albert Downing and Inez (Houseknecht) Downing. Doris was a homemaker. She volunteered her time to made books for the blind with her sister and a group of ladies from St. John Lutheran Church at the Trinity Lutheran Church. On September 10, 1949, in LaPorte, IN, she married Leslie Blaze who preceded in death September 19, 1997. She is survived by her 5 cousins - Shirlene (Harold) Neukam of Rolling Prairie, IN, Cherill Spaeth of Rolling Prairie, IN, Diane Houseknecht of Rolling Prairie, IN, Nancy Jorgenson of Rolling Prairie, IN, Barb (George) Argeropolos of Mishawaka, IN; and good friends the Aaron Fogus family of La Porte, IN. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Edith Hoeppner, and brother, Albert C. Downing. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday March 5, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
