Mrs. C. Koontz

. Irene Koontz, 96, of La Porte, IN, died Friday August 5, 2011 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte, IN. She was born February 24, 1915 in Jasper Co., Illinois, the daughter of Emery Waymoth and Edith (Kirkham) Waymoth. Irene was a retired seamstress for J C Penney. She was a member of First Christian Church of La Porte. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Irene was a volunteer at La Porte Hospital. She was very proud of winning a contest naming the "Wishing Well Gift Shop" at the hospital. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, working in the yard, playing bingo and cards. . On June 30, 1935, in Jasper Co, IL, she married Delbert R Koontz who preceded in death March 19, 1983. She is survived by her 2 daughters - Carol (Joseph) Pahs of La Porte, IN, Deborah (Glenn) Dissler of Prince George, British Columbia; son - Ronald (Peggy) Koontz of Placitas, NM; 8 Grandchildren - Mike (Tami) Pahs, Steve (Karin) Pahs, Alicia Pahs, Lars (Raven) Wuthrich, Lacy (Shaun) Chabot, Erica (Jason) Dissler, Delena (Jason) Skilton, Jason Koontz; 14 great grandchildren - Jonathan, Jessica, A. J., and Hannah Pahs, Jenna, Reese and Nicholas Wuthrich, Melanie and Chantel Chabot, Ella and Ben Dissler-Hawkes, Landon and Riley Koontz and Bendigo Skilton. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Loren Waymoth, and one sister, Leona Trimble. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, August 8, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Tues August 9, 2011 from 9:30 pm until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday August 9, 2011 at 10:30 am with Rev. Deborah Dissler officiating. Interment will follow at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN.
