Mrs. Berniece Jensen

Berniece J. Jensen December 22, 1924-August 23, 2011 Mrs. Berniece J. Jensen, 86, of LaPorte, IN, died Tuesday August 23, 2011 at Indiana University Health LaPorte Hospital. She was born December 22, 1924 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Otto Bass and Amanda (Machel) Bass. Berniece was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, primarily a servant of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Berniece graduated from Tyner High School. she also graduated from the Michael Reese School of Nursing and Moody Bible Institute. She had been employed by the Hines Veteran's Hospital inChicago, IL, Lydia Children's Home in Chicago, IL, Dr. Feinn's office and all local hospitals in LaPorte, she retired in 1974. On January 1, 1962, in LaPorte, IN, she married Raymond Jensen who survives. She is also survived by her step-son - Russell (Angela) Jensen of La Porte, IN; one sister - Violet Schoof of Donaldson, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Evelyn Schoof. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Friday, August 26, 2011 from 10:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday August 26, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Kim Landrum officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
