Mr. Samuel Zolman

Mr. Samuel M. Zolman, 76, of South Bend, Indiana, died Saturday March 24, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was born May 6, 1935 in Silver Lake, Indiana, the son of Samuel Zolman and Helene (Radtke) Zolman. Samuel had lived most of his life in the La Porte area and moved to South Bend in 2005. Samuel worked as a Fire Fighter for 33 years for the La Porte Fire Department and retired in 2000. He was a member of First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie, Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of V.F.W. Post # 9423 of Rolling Prairie, and he was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 980 of Michigan City. He was a very loving father and grandfather. On July 14, 2006, in South Bend, IN, he married Betty Ashcraft Zolman who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Laura (Reed) McDonald of La Porte, IN; 2 step-daughters - Debra (Randy) Kleine of La Porte, IN, Michelle (Marty) Pingel of Niles, MI; 3 step-sons - Michael (Carol) Sneed of Cape Coral, FL, John (Tammy) Sneed of La Porte, IN, Timothy (Darla) Ashcraft of Kalamazoo, MI; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 sisters - Joyce E. Smith of Nashville, NC, Arlene Mounce of New Carlisle, IN; 2 brothers - Max V. Zolman of Michigan City, IN, and Walter H. Zolman of South Bend, IN. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Florence Arndt, Doris Struyf, and a brother, John E. Zolman. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, March 26, 2012 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 9:30 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday March 27, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post 9423 of Rolling Prairie, IN..
