Mr. Robert Day Sr.

Robert A. Day, Sr. December 22, 1941-May 10, 2012 Mr. Robert A. Day, Sr., 70, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday May 10, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in LaPorte, IN. He was born December 22, 1941 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Earmel A. Day and Elsie (Helt) Day. Robert worked fifteen years as a truck driver for A & A Sheet Metal, retiring in 2007. He attended the First Free Will Baptist Church of LaPorte. Robert was a graduate of La Porte High School, and held a degree from The Greer Technical Institute. He enjoyed gospel music and liked going fishing with Betty. On November 20, 1965, in La Porte, IN, he married Betty (Smith) Day who survives. He is also survived by his two sons - Michael (LaVonne) Day of La Porte, IN, Robert A. (Susan) Day, Jr. of Chesterton, IN; one daughter - Theresa (Scott) Parsons of La Porte, IN; nine grandchildren, Shawnique, Maranda, Latasha, Robert III, Alexander, Kaitlyn, Nicole, Lukas, and Isaiah; six great grandchildren, and one brother - James K Day of La Porte, IN. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, May 14, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday May 15, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Nathan Wireman officiating. Cremation will take place.
