Mr. Ray Shei

Ray Shei August 5, 1927-January 13, 2014 Mr. (Harold) Ray Shei, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, died Monday January 13, 2014 at his home. He was born August 5, 1927 in Hamlet, Indiana, the son of Edwin Shei and Ruth (Murten) Shei. Ray was owner-operator of Shei's Garage for 40 years, retiring in 2008. He was a past member of the Pine Lake Grange, Door Village Lions Club, and American Legion.. Ray was a US Army Veteran during WW II. On August 14, 1948, in Knox, IN, he married Dorothy M. (Johnson) Shei who preceded him in death October 16, 2002. He is survived by his daughter - Mary Ruth (Rich Doughty) Shei-Pointon of Westville, IN; 3 sons - Eddie (Vickie) Shei of Lexington, KY, Ray (Janet) Shei, Jr. of Barrington, IL, and John (Wendy) Shei of Westville, IN; ten grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; 2 sisters - Lynette Ramsby of Argus, IN, and Pearl Killian of NC. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Ronald Shei. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday January 16, 2014 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Everett Shattuck, officiating. Interment will follow at the Hanna Cemetery, Hanna, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of LaPorte 610 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN 46350.
