Mr. Ralph Wedow

Mr. Ralph H. Wedow, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday February 17, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital after a brief illness. He was born October 20, 1923 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Lawrence Wedow and Edith (Zach) Wedow. Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific. After the war, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Ralph worked his entire 30 year career at Teledyne Casting Service retiring as Production Manager in 1988. He enjoyed Hoosier Basketball, reading, and spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. After retirement, Ralph became very knowledgeable of antiques and traveled throughout the Midwest attending antique auctions and events. On September 25, 1954, in Bridgman, MI, he married Betty Franks Wedow who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his daughter - Beth (Jay) Brackemyre of Minneapolis, MN; 2 Sons - Steve Wedow of La Porte, IN, Mark (Lorraine) Wedow of La Porte, IN; 4 Grandchildren - Carl Brackemyre, Joel Brackemyre, Jamie Wedow, Gregory Wedow; and a sister - Helen Marhanka of New Orleans, LA. Ralph was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lawrence (Bud) Wedow Jr. and Robert (Bob) Wedow Sr. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 10:00 am until Noon. A Life Celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Helen Nusbaum officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later date at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice.
