Mr. Philip Bracken

Mr. Philip L. Bracken, 87, of Mill Creek, Indiana, died Saturday March 23, 2013 at his home. He was born December 31, 1925 in Mill Creek, Indiana, the son of Ernest V. Bracken and Gladys I. (Stombaugh) Bracken. Philip was a retired mail carrier for U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, Stillwell Rod and Gun Club, Veteran of the US Navy during WWII and a member of the Fish Lake American Legion Post #400. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. On June 30, 1951, in Valparaiso, IN, he married Elizabeth (Huge) Bracken who preceded in death July 16, 1999. He is survived by his 2 sons - Kevin (Ginger Morris) Bracken of La Porte, IN, Mark (Donna) Bracken of Mill Creek, IN; 1 daughter - Darlene Cusick (Chuck); 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister - Marcella (Jeff) Levandoski of Taylorsville, KY; and close friend - Norma Zeimet of La Porte, IN. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandchild, Brandon Surma, and 2 brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 9:30 am until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 10:30 am with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
