Mr. Miles Edgington Jr.

Mr. Miles J. Edgington,Jr., 87, of Hamlet, Indiana, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born March 7, 1925 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Miles Edgington,Sr. and Bertha (Higgins) Edgington. Miles worked 33 years for Allis Chalmers, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Tracy United Methodist Church, American Legion #434 of Kingsford Heights. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II. Miles was always willing to help anyone, he was a peaceful and kind hearted man. On March 7, 1944, in Robinson, IL, he married Mary Catherine ( Fancil ) Edgington who preceded him in death on December 8, 1995. He is survived by his daughter - Debra (Charles) Moser of Hamlet, IN; son - Steven (Hazel) Edgington of LaPorte, IN; 3 grandchildren - Scott Moser of Hudson Lake, IN, Brande Edgington of La Porte, IN, Damon (Tammy) Moser of Hanna, IN; five great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Dorothy Nieman of Robinson, IL, Norma Martin of Robinson, IL, and 2 brothers - Larry (Margaret) Edgington of Jonesville, MI, Don Edgington of Las Vegas, NV. Miles was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment will follow at the Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, Indiana, where the American Legion Post #434 of Kingsford Heights will conduct military honors.
