Mr. Max Duensing

Mr. Max Gilford Duensing, Sr. 85, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday September 16, 2011 surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his loving wife of 63 years at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born May 18, 1926 in Humbolt, Illinois, the son of Robert Duensing and Lillie (Tharp) Duensing. Max worked as a Truck Driver for Consolidated Freight Line for 27 years and retired in 1988. He was a veteran of the US Army during W.W.II and a life member of the V.F.W. Post of Roseland, IN. He loved to travel and spend time fishing. On January 31, 1948, in Columbus, IN, he married Velma Goble Duensing who survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters- Connie (Doug) Dunning of Huntsville, AL, Alta Rae "Addie" (Gerry) Zuzock of Rolling Prairie, IN; son- Max (Vicky) Duensing, Jr. of La Porte, IN; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and his sister- Virginia Jungles of Lockport, IL. Max was preceded in death by his son, Larry Duensing, 1 grandson, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 19, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Eddie Heavner officiating.
