Mr. Manuel Spencer

Manuel Spencer, 75, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born February 7, 1936 in Breathitt Co., Kentucky, the son of Claude Spencer and Luna (Russell) Spencer. Manuel worked in construction for Reith & Riley. Manuel was pastor of the Free United Baptist Church from 1972 to the present. He enjoyed hunting, fishing for Northern Pike, and mushroom hunting. Manuel was a loving father and grandfather. On October 29, 1954, he married Laura (Howard) Spencer who preceded him in death October 18, 2005. He is survived by his son - Raymond Spencer of La Porte, IN; 2 daughters - Betty (Fred) Miller of La Porte, IN, Sue (Mike) Van Dusen of La Porte, IN; 2 grandchildren - Rachel Reed, Caleb Miller, and 2 great grandchildren- Briana Reed, Karly Reed; 3 brothers - Evert Spencer of La Porte, IN, and Elbert Spencer, Jessie Spencer both of Kentucky. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laura Spencer. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A Life Celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 7:00 pm with Rev. James Rowe officiating. Interment will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Springville Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the, Family of Manuel Spencer.
