Loucas "Louie" Vasilarakos February 10, 1938-January 18, 2013 Mr. Loucas A. "'Louie" Vasilarakos, 74, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born February 10, 1938 in Distomon, Greece, the son of Anastios Vasilarakos and Kalomira (Papanikolao) Vasilarakos. Louie was owner/operator of Louie's Cafe in LaPorte for over 35 years. Louie loved LaPorte and he loved being around people and helping whenever he could. On February 11, 1962, in Merriville, IN, he married Denise (Pagonis) Vasilarakos who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - Tom (Chris) Vasilarakos of La Porte, IN, Basil (Kristen) Vasilarakos of Phoenix, AZ; daughter - Miriam (Bill) Guinee of Hobart, IN; 3 grandchildren - Lucas Vasilarakos of Phoenix, AZ, Sammy Vasilarakos of Phoenix, AZ, Loucas Vasilarakos of La Porte, IN; brother - Jim Vasilarakos of La Porte, IN; sister - Irene of Distomon, Greece; niece - Myra Vasilarakos; and 3 nephews - Tom Demakas, John Demakas, and Tom Vasilarakos. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Monday, January 21, 2013 from 9:00 am, until time of service at the Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana. A life celebration will be held at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Monday January 21, 2013 at 10:00 am with Father Theodore Poteres officiating. A Greek Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Haverstock Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Merrillville, Indiana, St. Lakovos Greek Orthodox Church of Valparaiso, Indiana or Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Michigan City, Indiana.
