Mr. Leroy Brown

Leroy R. Brown , 75, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Sanctuary at Holy Cross of Indiana in South Bend, IN. He was born October 14, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Paul Brown and Mabel Irene (Bennitt) Brown. Leroy worked as a truck driver for JKR Transportation. He enjoyed driving trucks, he earned Employee of the Year from Roehl Transport. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, drag racing and riding motorcycles on oval tracks. Leroy also enjoyed farming with friends, he was involved with 4-H for ten years. Leroy was a Veteran of the US Army during Peacetime and Vietnam. On February 26, 1955, in Valparaiso, IN, he married Lila (Cavin) Brown who survives. He is also survived by his 3 sons - Bruce R. Brown of North Liberty, IN, Keith A. Brown of Rolling Prairie, IN, Jay D. (Susie) Brown of Pinckney, MI; 3 daughters - Margo L. (Steve) Brinkmeier of Stillman Valley, IL, Denise L. (Tom) Argyle of Machesney Park, IL, Cheri D. (Phil) Schwenk of La Porte, IN; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother - Charles R. Brown of New Carlisle, IN, and one sister - Glory Brewer of Hot Springs, AR. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James Brown. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 9:30 am, until time of service. A Life Celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday April 12, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Jay Loucks officiating. Interment will follow at the Olive Chapel Cemetery.
