Mr. Leonard Mcgowen

Leonard F. McGowen, 85, of Union Mills, Indiana, died Wednesday June 15, 2011 at his home. He was born April 8, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of Hentz McGowen and Mary (Mayfield) McGowen. He lived in the Union Mills, area for thirty-two years. Leonard was owner and auctioneer of Union Mills Auctions. He was a Veteran of US Army Air Corp. during WW II; he was a member of the American Legion of Union Mills, Indiana Auctioneer Assoc. and IBEA. On October 15, 1951, in, he married Dorothy (Daniel) McGowen who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving companion - Michael "Micky" Levy; 2 daughters - Cheryl (Garry) Turner of New Carlisle, IN, Becky St. Germain of Union Mills, IN; five grandchildren - Stacy, Tina, Ricky II, Christopher, Megan; eight great-grandchildren - Stephaney, Ashlynn, Auston, Ricky III, Hunter, Courtney, Maci, Tyler. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Cremation will take place.
