Mr. John Proud Sr.

Mr. John R. Proud Sr., 77, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday September 19, 2012 at Golden Living Center Fountainview. He was born January 4, 1935 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of Floyd Proud and Rachel (Davis) Proud. John worked in maintenance for Whirlpool. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports and working in the yard. On August 6, 1955, in LaPorte, IN, he married Alice (Schultz) Proud who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - John Proud, Jr. of South Bend, IN, Dennis Proud of La Porte, IN; one grandchild - Jacob Wesley Proud, and 2 brothers - Homer Proud of Ohio, William Proud of Florida. John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Margaret, Lois & Carol Mae, one brother, Kendall Proud, and infant daughter, Rosland Marie. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 24, 2012 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday September 24, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association 50 E. 91st St. STE 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
