Joe Carl Bass March 23, 1923-December 29, 2012 Mr. Joe C. Bass, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. He was born, March 23, 1923 in Greenback, Tennessee, the son of Homer Bass and Sarah (Hembree) Bass. Joe worked as an electrician for Local 760 of Tennessee. He was a two time Past Master of Masonic Lodge of Kingsbury #222 and a veteran of US Navy during WWII. On October 5, 1998, in LaPorte, IN, he married Gladys (Callender) Bass who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - Harold (Cindy) Bass of La Porte, IN, Darold Bass of Columbus, IN; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters - Ernestine Robbinson of Richmond, IN, and Johnie Schbert of Richmond, IN. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary Bass, two sisters, Lola Wright, and Mary, three brothers, Otto, Creed, and Homer Bass. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday January 3, 2013 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Liberty Baptist Cemetery, in Maryville, Tennessee at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Choice.
