Mr. Jeffery Davis

Jeffery Davis November 14, 1956 - May 4, 2013 Life began for Jeffery Davis on November 14, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois to Joyce Davis and Archie Shelton. Jeffery moved to Kingsford Heights at an early age; he attended school in Kingsford Heights and LaPorte. He grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights, accepting Christ later as an adult. Jeffery was a joyful member of the choir, and truly enjoyed serving in the men's choir. Jeffery enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling, but most importantly he enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Jeffery shared a special place in his heart for all of his nieces and nephews, teaching them many things that will follow them for a lifetime. After several months of being ill, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, God called Jeffery home to rest. Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents Joyce Davis and Archie (Louise) Shelton; grandparents George (Ida) Shelton, Willie V. Simmons; and one sister LaTonya Kyles. Jeffery leaves to cherish his precious memory, his sister, Michelle Edwards (Romulus, Michigan); 2 nieces, Laketia Shelton (Romulus, Michigan) and Astrona Kyles (Michigan City, Indiana); 2 nephews, Kamil (LaVonna) Shelton (Romulus, Michigan), and Jevon Edwards (Romulus, Michigan); 10 great nieces and nephews Domonique, Franklin, LaShell, Boyce, Bria, Lauren, Yolanda, Bryce, Jevon Jr., and JaNiya; his ex-wife and friend, Joan Jeffers Davis(Kingsford Heights, Indiana); 4 special Aunts Ethel Dunlap (Michigan City, Indiana), Mattie Dunlap (Michigan City, Indiana), and Viola Garrett (Gary, Indiana), Rosemary Portwood (Chicago, Illinois) and a host of cousins, and friends. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave. LaPorte, IN. where the family will receive friends Friday, May 10, 2013 from 4:00 pm- 6:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. Friday, May 10, 2013 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to: Michelle Edwards P.O.
